Solar work in Phuket at a glance

Phuket has three districts and the work in each hardly overlaps. Mueang Phuket covers the Sino-Portuguese Old Town, the island's business district and southern beaches such as Karon and Kata, so the work is hotels, restaurants and commercial buildings running air-conditioning almost all business hours. Kathu is Patong, the island's densest area of hotels and restaurants, open all year. Thalang in the north is home to the airport and the resorts and villas of Bang Tao and Choeng Thale.

Villas are especially heavy power users, with several air conditioners, water pumps and a private pool filtration system that runs every day even when no guests are staying. Our completed project in Phuket is in this group: a hybrid system with batteries for a pool villa that wanted backup power during outages and solar power into the night.

Who solar suits in Phuket

In Phuket, electricity is a major cost for hotels, guesthouses and restaurants, because air-conditioning and cooling systems run almost all the time. That makes hotels and villas a group where rooftop solar can pay back quickly. We install in phases without disrupting guest services, and choose equipment built for coastal conditions.

How the work differs across districts in Phuket

Phuket has only three districts, and each one has clearly different kinds of work. Mueang Phuket includes the Old Town, where local rules govern alterations and the external appearance of buildings — a condition not found in ordinary jobs in the South. Kathu is Patong, where buildings are packed closely together in a valley between hills, so the shade changes all day. Thalang is villas and resorts with multi-pitched roofs and large trees, so the area actually usable for panels is much smaller than it looks in aerial photos.

Choose your district in Phuket

Districts in Phuket Province, grouped by type of work. Pick the group that matches your area or business.

Mueang Phuket, Old Town and southern beaches

Hotels, restaurants, commercial buildings and offices. Old Town buildings are subject to local rules on alterations and external appearance that must be checked before design.

Patong

Hotels, restaurants and bars open all year. Buildings packed together in a valley between hills, so shade shifts through the day and with the seasons.

Thalang: villas and northern resorts

Villas and resorts around Bang Tao and Choeng Thale. Multi-pitched roofs and large trees leave less usable roof than aerial photos suggest.

We cover all 3 districts of Phuket Province.

Pricing

Solar installation cost in Phuket

The price depends on each property's roof and electricity use. We survey the site in person, then give you a quote that actually applies.

Any travel charge is confirmed before booking. The actual price depends on roof type, structural condition and cable run length, which can vary a lot even for systems of the same size, so every quote is based on a real site survey.

FAQ

Questions from customers in Phuket

Does 19Energy install solar in Phuket?

Yes. We provide surveys, installation and after-sales care in Phuket Province. Site surveys are by appointment, and any travel charge is confirmed before booking.

If something goes wrong after installation in Phuket, how fast can you come out?

You can check your generation yourself in the inverter's app, so you can report a problem as soon as the figures look wrong, and we can make a first diagnosis remotely. When a site visit is needed, we book it by appointment in Phuket, covering Mueang Phuket, Kathu (Patong) and Thalang and the other districts in the province, and always confirm the date in advance.

Does installation in Phuket cost more than elsewhere?

We don't add a surcharge by province. Any travel charge is confirmed before booking. What really changes the price is the site conditions, not the location. In Phuket, the conditions that move the price most are the differences between districts. It is the only province where building rules in a conservation area become a condition of the job. They must be checked before design, not just whether the roof structure can take the weight. Our quote therefore comes from a real site survey, which costs THB 1,200–1,500 and is refunded in full against your quote when you go ahead with the installation.

Is there enough sunshine in Phuket for solar?

Yes. The province is on the Andaman side. The heaviest rain comes in the middle of the year with the southwest monsoon, which coincides with the low season for hotels and guesthouses. We calculate using a Southern Thailand solar yield of 1,350 kWh per kWp per year, which already includes the rainy season and is lower than for other regions of the country. The payback figures we give are based on real conditions in the South.

Which districts in Phuket do you cover?

All 3 districts of Phuket Province. Send us your district name on LINE and we will arrange a survey date and confirm any travel charge before the visit.

How is solar installation in Phuket different from other provinces in the South?

It is the only province where building rules in a conservation area become a condition of the job. They must be checked before design, not just whether the roof structure can take the weight.

Has 19Energy completed projects in Phuket?

Yes, for example a 15.48 kW hybrid system at a pool villa in Phuket. The panels sit in long rows on a gravel-covered roof deck, on frames set on concrete footings placed on the deck. The Solis inverter, two Solis Storage battery units and the control cabinet are installed together in the electrical room next to the building's main distribution board.

My villa in Thalang has a multi-pitched roof. Can the system be sized from photos?

No. Detached villas often have roofs with several pitches for looks, and large trees as part of the landscaping, so the continuous roof area actually usable for panels is much smaller than aerial photos suggest. These jobs always need a real site survey before the system is sized.

A hotel in Patong has tall buildings around it. Will solar still work?

Yes, if the panels are placed according to the real shade. Hotels and shops in Patong run air-conditioning and cooling almost nonstop during business hours, so almost all the power produced gets used. But buildings here are packed close together at different heights, in a valley between two lines of hills, so the morning and evening sun is blocked earlier than on flat land. We check the real shade across the whole day, not just the free roof area.

Can panels go on a building in Phuket Old Town?

The rules for that particular building must be checked before design. Old Town buildings are in an area with local rules on alterations and external appearance, a condition not found on ordinary jobs in the South, on top of checking whether the roof structure can take the weight.

A villa is not occupied every day. Does it still use power in the daytime?

Yes. A villa's private pool filtration runs every day even when no guests are staying, plus water pumps and several air conditioners when guests are in, so its consumption does not drop to zero on empty days. We size the system from that villa's actual electricity bills, which reflect both occupied and empty days.

Built for the southern climate

Coastal and island sites in Phuket

Three conditions that shape how a system is designed near the sea in Southern Thailand.

  • Salt air

Sea spray carries chloride that speeds up corrosion. The panels themselves (glass front, aluminum frame) hold up well — the risk is in the metal parts around them: screws, hooks, junction boxes and cable connectors. For coastal sites we use aluminum mounting structures and stainless-steel fixings, keep the inverter out of direct sea spray, and recommend washing panels with fresh water more often, because salt deposits don't rinse off in the rain.

  • Heavy rain, cloud and monsoon wind

Panels run on light, not heat, so they still produce on overcast days. We size systems using 1,350 kWh per kWp per year for the South, a yearly average that already includes rainy and cloudy days. The inverter should sit in a shaded, ventilated spot out of driving rain, every connection must be sealed against water, and mounting on the coast has to be designed for the actual monsoon wind load of that site.

Does solar work in the southern rainy season?
  • Lightning

Panels mounted flat on a roof barely change a building's height, so they don't meaningfully attract lightning. The real damage comes from surges when lightning strikes nearby. A system should have surge protection on both the DC side (from the panels) and the AC side (to your consumer unit), plus grounding that bonds the mounting and every panel frame.
