Solar Warranty, Explained Part by Part
We break the warranty down part by part, following the manufacturers' actual documents, and show clearly which parts are our own responsibility.

Our own warranty
Roof leaks from our mounting points are covered for 2 years
If water gets in where we drilled to fix the mounting structure, we repair it at no charge under the installation warranty. Leaks from other parts of the roof that have nothing to do with our work, or from the roof's existing wear, are outside the warranty — in that case we inspect it and show you the cause first.
Why we list warranties part by part
Each part of the system has its own warranty period: panels carry product and power output warranties set by the manufacturer of the brand you choose, and the inverter around 10 years. Seeing them part by part shows exactly how long each one is covered.
Every figure here matches the manufacturers' documents, so you can use it to check which warranty a figure in a quote actually refers to.
Know the terms
3 kinds of warranty people often mix up
Once these three are clear, you can read a solar quote with far more confidence.
Product warranty
Covers defects in the panel, such as glass cracking on its own, the backsheet peeling or a failed junction box. This is the warranty that gets you a replacement.
Panels we install: set by each manufacturer for the brand and model
Performance warranty
Guarantees that power output won't drop faster than a set rate each year. It is not a promise of a replacement panel.
Panels we install: per the manufacturer's document
Installation warranty
The installer's own responsibility: the mounting, the wiring, and any leaks caused by our work.
19Energy: 2 years
The third one comes from the installer, not the manufacturer — so it is worth checking what it covers and for how long.
By brand
How long each brand's warranty lasts
We install every brand on this list, so you can choose. The figures are what the manufacturers publish; the terms that actually apply are those in the document for the model installed, which you receive with the system.

Inverters
HUAWEI 10 years
SUN2000 series; can be extended to 15 or 20 years at extra cost
Solis 5 years
5 years as standard; can be extended to 10, 15 or 20 years at extra cost if requested within the first 5 years · Starts from commissioning or 6 months after leaving the factory, whichever comes first
Deye 10 years
Sungrow 10 years

Hybrid models have an ongoing warranty-extension program through 2026
SMA 5–10 years
Depends on the model; can be extended at extra cost
A panel's product warranty can vary a lot by model and by the market it was imported for, even within the same brand. The figure that applies to your system is the one in the document for the model actually installed — we hand it over with the system, and you can ask to see it before you decide.
Before you sign
Questions to ask before you sign a solar contract
Use this as a checklist for any quote you receive. Under each question is how 19Energy does it.
Does the quote name the brand and model of the panels and inverter?
19Energy: The exact brand and model are written into your quote before you sign anything. The panels we install are JA Solar, LONGi or Jinko Solar, the inverters HUAWEI, Solis or Deye, and for hybrid systems the batteries are LVTopsun or Sunwoda.
How many years is the panel product warranty, and how many the performance warranty?
19Energy: We list both separately — see the brand table above. The figures that apply to your system are those in the document for the model actually installed; you can ask to see it before you sign, and you receive it with the system.
How long is the inverter warranty, and when does it start?
19Energy: It depends on the brand — see the table above. We tell you the warranty start date for the brand we use before installation, and every system is handed over with documents showing that start date.
If something goes wrong after installation, who do I call and who comes out?
19Energy: Contact us directly. The inverter has a monitoring app, so we can make a first diagnosis remotely before coming to site. For the installation and mounting work: 19energy's own technicians handle every job.
How long is the installation warranty, and does it cover roof leaks?
19Energy: Installation and mounting work is covered for 2 years — the mounting, the wiring, and leaks from the points where we drilled to fix the structure, which we repair at no charge.
What aftercare is included after installation?
19Energy: Clients who install with us get panel cleaning once a year, annual system health check, a check of your building's wiring while we are there free for 2 years. We contact you 14 days ahead to book each visit.
Who handles the permit paperwork, and is it included in the price?
19Energy: We handle the applications with PEA (Provincial Electricity Authority) and the ERC (Energy Regulatory Commission), and this is included in the installation price. A meter upgrade fee, if needed, is charged directly by PEA — we give you the current rate when we quote.
Does the price include VAT, and can you issue a full tax invoice?
19Energy: Our quote states clearly whether prices are before or after VAT. VAT-registered company — full tax invoices issued, 3% withholding tax supported for corporate clients.
FAQ
Warranty questions
What does a 25-year panel warranty mean?
The 25 years usually refers to the panel's performance warranty, which is not the same as the product warranty. A performance warranty guarantees that the panel will keep producing at least a stated level of power — replacing a faulty panel falls under the product warranty, which follows each manufacturer's terms for the brand and model. We list each component separately, matching the manufacturers' documents.
What is the difference between a product warranty and a performance warranty?
The product warranty covers defects in the panel itself — glass cracking on its own, the backsheet peeling, or a failed junction box. The performance warranty guarantees that power output won't fall faster than the rate the manufacturer sets for each year. If a panel still works but its output has dropped below that threshold, that is when the performance warranty applies.
When does the inverter warranty start?
It depends on the brand, and it often doesn't start on the day it is installed at your property. A clear example is Solis, which counts from commissioning or 6 months after the unit leaves the factory, whichever comes first. If a unit has sat in stock for a long time, the cover you actually get is shorter than the stated figure. We tell you the warranty start date for the brand we use before installation, and every system is handed over with documents showing that start date.
If the roof leaks after installation, who is responsible?
If the leak comes from a point where we drilled to fix the mounting structure, it is our responsibility under the 2-year installation warranty, and we fix it at no charge. A leak from another part of the roof that has nothing to do with our work, or from the roof's existing wear, is outside the warranty — in that case we inspect it and show you the cause first.
What maintenance do I need to keep the warranty valid?
Mainly, keep the panels clean and don't modify the system yourself. Regular cleaning keeps output from dropping. Just as important, don't have the electrical system altered or equipment swapped, because modification by anyone who isn't authorized ends the manufacturer's warranty.
Want to see the actual warranty documents before you decide?
Just ask. We can send them to you in advance — no need to wait until contract day.
